A large bag of popcorn, a couple of drinks, a television, DVD player, and your significant other. There is only one thing missing, a good movie to watch. I know many of us have faced this dilemma before, but don’t fret we are here to help you. We have compiled a list of movies that are a “must watch” with your boo.

The Notebook (2004)

This love story has been stealing the hearts and tears of women all across America. This film focuses on a relationship that stretches over 50 years, and the eagerness of a husband to never let his wife forget about their love. Fellas, whether you like it or not you will definitely see this movie at one time or another in your relationship.

Love & Basketball (2000)

If you have not seen this movie, you must have been under a rock for the past 12 years.  The love story of Monica Wright and Quincy McCall is one that our generation has fallen in love with over the years.

Poetic Justice (1993)

Starring Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur, this movie showcases the acting skills of the two famed musicians.

Manhattan (1979)

You can never go wrong with a Woody Allen flick, especially this one. Allen’s quirky sense of humor and unique directing style makes this perfect to watch with your girlfriend or boyfriend.

Love Jones (1997)

“I’m the blues in your left thigh, trying to become the funk in your right.” That’s all that really needs to be said about this movie.

(500) Days of Summer (2009)

This is a great film for those of you who enjoy romantic, yet comedic genres and movies. This love story unfolds over the course of 500 days.

Something New (2006)

A must see! Starring actors Sanaa Lathan, who plays a successful corporate manager, and Simon Baker, who plays a landscape architect, this film will help you see what true love is all about.

Coming to America (1998)

Let loose and laugh a little. This classic film tells the story of an African prince from Zamunda who comes to America with hopes of finding a wife. Will she become his queen to be?

The Best Man (1999)

This drama-filled romantic comedy film features Nia Long, Taye Diggs, Sanaa Lathan, and more. Enjoy it with your date or even a group of close friends!

Brown Sugar (1998)

“I met this girl when I was 10 years old and what I loved most she had so much soul, she was old school and I was just a shorty never knew throughout my life that she would be there for me.” This classic film is where love meets hip-hop.
